President meets Fehmida, consults others

ISLAMABAD - President Asif Ali Zardari remained busy till late Sunday night in consultations with the key aids over the situation that emerged after resignation of the Sindh Senior Minister Dr Zulfikar Mirza, sources said. According to the sources, President Zardari also talked to the Speaker National Assembly Dr Fehmida Mirza and exchanged views over these developments. Sources privy to these developments told TheNation that President Zardari has offered to appoint Dr Zulfikar Mirza as ambassador in any country of his choice in a bid to normalise the situation. However, according to the sources Federal Minister for Interior Rehman Malik who might also be replaced and offered some other job. But there is no official word so far in this connection. Sources said that President Zardari might also convene an important meeting today (Monday) after consultations with Prime Minister to discuss the latest developments that have left the PPP and its high command in a very challenging situation.
