Governor blasts Punjab govt for 'confrontation'

KARACHI - Punjab Governor Salman Taseer has said that the Federal government does not want any sort of confrontation in Punjab at this juncture in the larger national interest and democracy, but at the same time it is not afraid of threats of 'long or short' marches by the Opposition. Addressing a dinner hosted in his honour by the City District Government Karachi at a local hotel on Wednesday, he criticised the Punjab govt for the policy of confrontation adopted by the ruling party there. 'Unlike Sindh where PPP and MQM are cooperating with each other or in NWFP where PPP and ANP are running along despite differences, we see a hostile attitude towards PPP from our coalition partner', he added. He said the PML-N says they do not want him to be the Governor of Punjab and questioned what he had done against them for which they were demanding his removal.
