Time for sabotaging democracy has come to an end: PM

Prime Minister Syed Yousaf Raza Gilani on Monday again made it clear that time has come for practical steps rather than talking about the past stressing time for sabotaging democracy has come to an end. '80 percent work on Charter of Democracy has been completed, PM expressed these views while talking to party activists and speaking at inauguration of Shaikh Khalifa Bin Zayed Al-Nayhan Hospital, Rawalakot on Monday. Pakistan People's Party (PPP) will sweep the next general elections; the time of taking over the government without the elections has passed long ago, claimed Prime Minister Yousuf Raza Gilani. The Prime Minister while addressing a party workers meeting in Rawalakot area of Pakistan Occupied Kashmir said that some people are willing to take over the government without any elections but the period of an over night assault has passed. Gilani added that PPP had always struggled against the dictators but never opted for a revenge in the politics. "I advice all those who wish to take over the government that they should wait till the next general elections," he added. PM said that we would never allow democracy to be derailed at any cost. He said that flying of National Flag of Pakistan at the residence of Chief Justice of Pakistan and Swat was a sheer dream of Shaheed Mohtarma Benazir Bhutto, which we fulfilled thick and thin. We respect courts with full dignity adding no one is above the law and constitution, he said. PPP is not only a symbol of the federation adding it is a party of all the four provinces, he said. We have brought 1973 constitution to its original form besides other promises we fulfilled hence it is a sheer gift to the Nation, PM said. Prime Minister was of the view that after the martyrdom of Shaheed BB, country was virtually in tatters but PPP Government stood like a solid rock to save country from mere disaster. We are proud to be a Nuclear State adding undoubtedly our defence is impregnable tooth and nail, PM held. He further said that PPP does not believe in politics of confrontation rather consensus adding government will trust upon us again and vote in favor of us as we won the last polls with an overwhelming majority hoping to sweep the polls again. We have not sent any politician to jail, those who talk like this must be ashamed of themselves, PM said. History has witness that PPP and Judiciary has given numerous sacrifices for the sake of the national interest of the country, PM added. PPP he said has given a true example to other parties how government is run. Later inaugurating Shaikh Khalifa Bin Zayed Al-Nayhan Hospital the PM said this hospital, besides being a symbol of hope and new life for the people of Rawalakot and other earthquake affected areas of Azad Jammu and Kashmir, epitomizes the time tested friendship between the brotherly peoples and governments of Pakistan and the United Arab Emirates. This inauguration ceremony is, indeed, a memorable occasion for the people of Pakistan as well as Azad Jammu and Kashmir and will mark the beginning of latest healthcare services for the victims of 2005 Earthquake, he said. PM said Pakistan and the United Arab Emirates have always enjoyed exemplary relations, based on our cultural affinities and values. Over the years the UAE has emerged as one of our most valued economic and trading partners. We must engage in strategic planning with local governments and medical institutions in order to conceive and put in place these training programmes, which are so critical for the future, he said. 'I would like to reiterate the pledge of my government to stay the course till the complete rehabilitation of all the earthquake-hit areas', PM concluded. Meanwhile local administration made very stern security arrangements for the visit of PM Gilani. Rawalakot city was completely closed before his arrival, which created a massive unrest in the local traffic system.
