ISLAMABAD Secretary General Jamaat-i-Islami Liaquat Baloch on Tuesday said that the government while accepting its failure in all fields should itself announce elections in the country. We do not support any unconstitutional change while mid-term is not a solution to all issues. PPP, PML-N, MQM, ANP and JUI-F should accept that the general elections of 2008 have failed to deliver and they should announce elections in the country as the Constitution mentions, Liaquat Baloch said while addressing a press conference here. He said that the incumbent government followed the interior and foreign policies of General Musharraf while corruption and their incapability have endangered the political and democratic process in the country. He alleged that the federal government has failed to improve the law and order situation which consequently has damaged trade and industry in the country, while inflation and extraordinary utility bills have proved that the divided mandate of general elections 2008 has failed. The NRO has finally abolished. The need of the hour is to respect the court decision regarding NRO and action should be taken against its beneficiaries. But the government confronted the court despite the fact that the Constitution of Pakistan does not defend any one involved in corruption, he said. Expressing solidarity with the Kashmiri people, he said that the Indian attitude on Kashmir dispute is leading the region towards atomic war. He also urged the government to stop following Musharrafs policy on Kashmir. Talking about the NATO attacks, he said that such attacks have further increased the hatred among the people against US. He termed these attacks as an attack on the freedom and sovereignty of Pakistan. The situation in Balochistan is alarming. The Balochistan Package has done nothing while human rights were neglected in FATA. The government should inform the nation about the fruits of army operation in these areas, he added. He further said that the sentence of Dr Aafia has exposed the US claims of being the champion of human rights. The verdict has increased hatred against India. Jamaat-e-Islami in its Central Executive Committee meeting has condemned the Foreign Office and the Pakistani Ambassador in US for their negligence, Liaquat Baloch said.
