Govt asked to get tough with US on drone attacks

ISLAMABAD (Online) - Parliamentary Committee on National Security asking the government to categorically talk to US for stopping drone attacks, said unless Pakistan adopts a decisive and strict tone US would not review its policies. The meeting of the Parliamentary Committee, chaired by Raza Rabbani, was held at the Parliament House on Friday. Minister of State for Foreign Affairs Hina Rabbani Khar briefed the members of meeting about PMs visit to Afghanistan, drone attacks and relations with neighbours including India. Sources said during the in-camera session, the members were of the view that the government and the public were on the same page regarding drone attacks and US should be told in categorical terms that they would not tolerate drone attacks any more and America should respect our sovereignty and the attacks should be stopped forthwith. They were of the view that relations between Pakistan and US could never be normal without a halt to those attacks. Sources said the committee directed for implementation of its past recommendations on Pakistan security. The committee welcomed the resumption of dialogue process with India and said this would pave the way for better relations. The members also asked diplomats to improve their performance. Talking to media after the meeting, Hina Rabbani Kher said the committee was briefed about PMs visit to Afghanistan.
