MULTAN Prime Minister Syed Yousuf Raza Gilani confirmed on Friday that President Asif Ali Zardari held direct talks with PML-Q. The Premier also inaugurated two newly constructed flyovers later on. He told media persons that he had complete mental harmony with President Zardari on the issue of dialogue with Q League. He hoped the talks would leave a very positive impact on the national political horizon. Gilani claimed the politics of reconciliation had become the hallmark of incumbent government and the PPP. Weve kept all political forces along with us while putting differences aside for the sake of larger national interest. We havent victimised anyone and therefore not even a single political prisoner exists in the country today, he claimed. He added the PPP was two steps ahead of all political parties in the politics of reconciliation. Elaborating the importance of political stability, he declared it need of the hour, saying national stability was subject to it. If the country is politically stable, it will automatically gain economic strength. The development being observed in the country is outcome of political stability, he claimed. He warned that the country could no more afford political destabilisation. He asked all political players to keep forth national interests instead of personal gains. Answering a question on Seraiki province, he said the PPP was going to make it a part of its manifesto for the next polls and there existed no difference of opinion among political parties on this issue. The committee will consult people of Bahawalpur to evolve an undisputed formula for the creation of new province. To a query on drone attacks, he said the country need not to fight any war on this issue, adding that he would logically convince Americans to stop drone campaign. He said the governments policy on drone issue was quite clear as he had delivered statements against these attacks on the floor as well as at all fora. He said Pakistan was a nuclear power and the entire world accepted this reality. He said he would raise this issue on international level and the nation would feel a positive impact of it in near future. He said the government had asked other countries to lend their voice for halting the drones as these attacks were killing innocent people. Referring to Afghanistan, he said Pakistan would follow the same policy the US pursued in Afghanistan. He said Pakistan, US and Afghanistan had a unanimous policy to resolve the issue. He pointed out that Pakistan suffered heavy losses because of this war as foreign investment shied away. He said no war could be won without public support, claiming that the government triumphed against terrorists as it enjoyed massive support from the masses. He said the national economy was already nose diving because of loadshedding while flashflood further added to Pakistans hardships. He said demands of industrialists would be given a serious consideration. He declared construction of Multan-Faisalabad Motorway was his top priority as he would lay the foundation stone of the project on May 13.
