Driver killed as Nato trucks attacked

KHYBER AGENCY - Militants in Landi Kotal attacked two Nato supply trucks early Wednesday, killing a driver and wounding two other people, officials said. Half a dozen militants armed with assault rifles launched the attack in Landi Kotal, a town in tribal district of Khyber on the border with Afghanistan, the officials said The sources said that unknown armed persons equipped with automatic weapons early Wednesday intercepted the convoy on Landi Kotal By-Pass Torkham Road and opened indiscriminate firing on it. One vehicle bearing registration No.P2275 came under the attack and its driver, who was later identified as Fida Khan Afridi, was shot dead on the spot while his two conductors namely Takbeer Ullah and Hasan received bullets wounds and were shifted to a health centre for medical treatment, the sources said. Another vehicle plunged into a ravine when its driver lost the control due to firing on the convoy. The insurgents successfully managed to escape after committing the crime. The local political administration and other officials rushed towards the scene and collected evidences for investigation.
