Shujaat rejects Maliks claim on Tableeghi Centre

ISLAMABAD - Rejecting Interior Minister Rehman Maliks statement regarding Tableeghi Jamat, PML-Q President Ch Shujaat Hussain has said Tableeghi Jamaats Raiwind Markaz is not a centre of terrorism, rather it is spreading the message of peace and tolerance and is recognised as a great religious gathering of the world. Ch Shujaat was addressing a press conference along with MNA Chaudhry Wajahat Hussain, Ajmal Wazir and Hafiz Amaar Yasir here on Friday. Tableeghi Jamaat was spreading not only in Pakistan but all over the world, he said, adding no word for sectarianism had ever been communicated in any Ijtima of Tableeghi Jamaat. It was the only organisation which was actively trying to bridge over the West and the Islamic world, he said. Shujaat said Tableeghi Jamaat had nothing to do with extremism and terrorism and it had never violated any law. He said Jamaat organised religious ijtima not only in Pakistan but also at Bangladesh, Afghanistan, India and many other countries and exemplary discipline was witnessed at such gatherings. He said whosoever had any kind of misunderstanding about Tableeghi Jamaat and Raiwind Markaz should get it clarified because he had no knowledge of the mission, vision, achievements and background of Tableeghi Jamaat. He said he and his family members were among those hundreds of thousands who often attended ijtima at Raiwind for seeking the blessings of God. In this world of materialism, illiteracy and injustice, the work of Tableeghi Jamaat was a sign of hope and enlightenment for the people, he said. To a query, Shujaat said Sharifs wanted to take political mileage by creating misconception of confrontation between the government and the judiciary which did not exist.
