Man, woman killed over 'karo-kari'

QUETTA - Three people were killed including a woman in two separate incidents of firing in two different incidents in Jhal Magsi and Kalat districts on Sunday. As per reports reaching here, Ali Gohar allegedly opened indiscriminate firing on his mother and on another person identified as Muhammad Usman after declaring them karo-kari. As a result, they received critical wounds and succumbed to injuries. The accused person escaped from the site after committing crime. Yet in another incident, unknown people gunned down a person identified as Shafi Muhammad in Kalat district and fled from the site. However, motive behind the killing yet to be ascertained. Police have registered cases of both incidents and started investigation. Meanhile, dozens of activists of Baloch Students Organization (BSO-Azad) on Sunday staged a demonstration outside Quetta press club to protest against alleged missing of Shahziab Baloch president BSO Quetta chapter. Participants of demonstration were holding placards and banners bearing various demands, urging the govt for immediate recovery of Shahziab Baloch and other missing persons. Addressing the demonstrators, BSO leader Salam Baloch, Chakar Baloch and others termed the reconciliation efforts of the government a 'fraud' to Baloch people and said that it was nothing more than delaying tactics. He alleged that nothing had been changed in Balochistan after ousting of dictator Musharraf while missing of political workers and allegedly excesses of security forces were continued in Balochistan. They alleged that in so-called democratic govt, dozens of people had been allegedly picked up by secret agencies including BRP leaders and Shahzaib Baloch. They demanded the United Nations to play its due role and take immediate note of alleged missing of political activists and stop excesses against Baloch people.
