RAWALPINDI Chief Minister (CM) Punjab Mian Shahbaz Sharif said that owing to the effective strategy adopted by the Punjab Government as well as the City District Govt, Allah Almighty had saved Rawalpindi from the devastation of Nullah Leh flood. He said that those four persons killed in flood would be given Rs 0.3 million each, while the injured woman would be given Rs 0.1 million as compensation. Besides this, Dhoke Hassu Bridge which damaged by the flood would also be reconstructed soon. Mian Shehbaz Sharif said this upon his arrival at Benazir Bhutto International Airport here on Friday after visiting the flood-hit areas of Mianwali. He was flanked by PML-N MNAs, MPAs, and high-ups of the City District Government Rawalpindi (CDGR). On the occasion, PML-N city leadership briefed Mian Shahbaz Sharif about the situation caused by Nullah Leh flood. On this, the CM expressed satisfaction over the arrangements made by the CDGR to tackle the flood situation. He asked the legislators to be ready every time to help the people. He said that in case of heavy rain, the people residing along with banks of nullahs should be shifted to some safer places. Later, the CM visited flood-hit area of Gawalmandi and reviewed the situation there. He spent some moments on Gawalmandi Bridge and after escorted towards Islamabad without talking to media persons. Tight security arrangements were made upon his arrival by blocking all the roads leading towards Gawalmandi. This also tensed the commuters and pedestrians in the main area of the city.
