Policeman converts plane into car

KERSHAW: Amateur mechanic and local policeman Jeff Bloch amazes road users as he cruises the streets of in Kershaw, South Carolina in a converted plane.
The 40-year-old police officer - dubbed Speedy Cop by his friends - combined an abandoned Cessna aircraft with a Toyota van to make his unusual ride.
The 27-foot vehicle was originally built for the 24 Hours of LeMons race in South Carolina, US - an endurance race for second hand cars inspired by the more famous Le Mans race in France.
The car, named Spirit of LeMons, can reach speeds of 90 miles per hour and won the most coveted prize at the race. Since then Jeff has made the car legal to drive on the street by adding head lights, brake lights and indicators.
He said: “I kind of am concerned because people focus so hard on this they don't look where they're going. I haven't seen an accident yet, but I'm afraid it's inevitable.”–tg
