ISLAMABAD -Pakistan Junior Davis Cup beat Syria in Junior Davis Cup pre-qualifying final in Malaysia Friday. Pakistan and Syria have already qualified for the qualifying event of Junior Davis Cup Asian Oceania. Pakistan remained unbeaten throughout the event and had beaten top opponents including top seeds Kazakhstan. Despite the defeat of country's top player M Mudassar Murtaza at the hands of Kareem al Allaf 3-6, 6-4, 4-6 in opening match, Pakistan hit back through M Zaid Mujahid as he beat Syrian number 2 player M Azeem 6-3, 6-7, 6-4. In the doubles, Mudassar/Zaid beat Syrian pair Azeem/Kareem 6-3, 4-6, 6-4 to help Pakistan win the final. PTF president Kaleem Imam lauded team’s performance and promised to provide more opportunities to them to get international exposure.–Staff Reporter
