Pakistan cueists stay unbeaten

Asif smashes 127 break in his 3rd consecutive win in world championship

KARACHI - Defending Champion M Asif conjured up his third victory in the International Billiards and Snooker Federation (IBSF) World Snooker Championship in Daugavpils (Latvia) with 4-1 hammering of German cueist Lukas Kleckers with a spectacular break of 127 on Saturday night.
Like Asif, his team-mates Imran Shehzad and M Sajjad also maintained their winning sequence in the championship. In Sundays match, Sajjad was in attacking mood as he routed Stephane Ochoiski of France 4-0. Sajjad carved out a fine break of 88 while registering 80-22, 123-07, 56-36 and 85-37 for his third win on trot.
32-year-old Asif, looking for back to back titles in the global event, made the 127 clearance-break in the fifth and final frame to race to another impressive victory. Asif from Faisalabad made a whirlwind start winning the first frame 69-01 and second 94-36 with a neat break of 59. However Kleckers out-potted Asif in third frame. But breaks of 80 and 127 in the last two saw Asif bulldozing his German opponent. Imran Shehzad from Lahore compiled two superb breaks of 61 and 73 while blanking his Lithuanian rival Villis Schulte 4-0.
