Pakistan deaf cricket team crush India

LAHORE - Pakistan crushed Indian deaf cricket team by nine wickets to win the Hellenic Premier League trophy at Corfu Greece on Saturday. Batting first, Indian team scored 88 runs for the loss of nine wickets in 20 overs. Only Rahul (10) and Manjeet (11) reached the double figures. For Pakistan deaf team, Shakil grabbed three wickets for 15 runs while Naeem Baig and Naveed Qammer bagged two wickets each. Pakistan deaf team, in reply, achieved the target in 9.3 overs for the loss of just one wicket. Nadeem was top scorer with unbeaten 36 runs while Zaka Ahmed contributed 26 and Naveed Qammer unbeaten 17. Talking to The Nation from Corfu, Greece, after registering title victory, Pakistan deaf team head coach Nadeem Zafar Gondal said: “It was a team effort as all the players played superbly and managed to beat arch-rivals to clinch the coveted trophy. The boys are in high spirit and want to earn more laurels for the country at international level.” Nadeem also lauded the services of Pakistan Deaf Cricket Association (PDCA) president Abdul Salam for deaf cricketers and said: “Due to sincere efforts of the PDCA president, Pakistan deaf team has been respecting the country at international level and earning good name and fame for the country globally. With due recognition, appreciation and support by government and concerned authorities, Pakistan deaf team can win more glories.”
