ISLAMABAD – A 19-7member Indian Physically Challenged Cricket team arrived in Islamabad on Sunday evening to play Twenty20 international match to mark World Disabled Day today.
The team was given a rousing welcome at the Pakistan Cricket Association for Physically Handicapped office where a large crowd along with PCAPH officials were gathered to receive the Indian team. This was the second trip of Indian handicapped cricket team this year as they had also played a series against Pakistan team in June this year. The match will start at 11:30 at Marghazar Cricket ground in which Pakistan Cricket Board Chairman Ch Zaka Ashraf will be the chief guest. Australian High Commissioner Peter Hayward would head the list of high profile dignitaries who will be present on the ground as guests of honours.
Meanwhile, PCAPH director Ashfaq Chattha said that all the arrangements have been finalised to hold the match in a befitting manner and they have worked day and night to make this occasion a huge success to pay special tribute to all the disabled persons of the world through this match.
They have completed all the arrangements after receiving confirmation from the Indian team in a very short span of time. He gives credit to his colleagues those worked tirelessly and arranged NOCs and security clearance for Indian team. Now they have to ensure their safe and sound return of Indian team after the conclusion of the match, Ashfaq stated.
