Playing IHF leagues to secure players, future

LAHORE - Former Pakistan hockey captain Muhammad Saqlain urged the national hockey players to participate in the Indian Hockey Federation leagues and get financial benefit. Olympian M Usman claimed that Pakistani players have no good jobs and salaries so they must join world series of hockey to boost their finance and career to secure their future. "I have been playing hockey for the last 12 years and I could not manage to get basic necessities of life easily," he said and added: "Some hockey players have not even their own houses and are deprived of other facilities in life due to the low income." He suggested the hockey players to take part in the leagues there. He asked the hockey federation to allow the players to participate in the leagues. He maintained that senior players like Rehan Butt, Sohail Abbas, Salman Akbar, Waseem Ahmad and Zeeshan Ashraf should take initiative as the PHF would drop them in future.
