LAHORE Golden Star Cricket Club defeated Young Ghari Shahu Gymkhana by 54 runs in the East Zone Cricket Championship match and qualified for the second round here at Punjab University New Campus the other day. Golden Start, batting first, piled up 240 runs for all out. M Asif was main scorer for Golden Star with 51 runs knock while Aadam Sehgal made 38, Fahim Arshad 25 and Ehsaan Ullah 22 runs. Abdul Samad clinched three wickets while Naseer and Imran took two wickets each for losers. Young Ghari Shahu Gym, in reply, were bowled out on 186 runs. Imran was the key contributor who smashed 61 runs while Naseer collected 50. For Golden Star, M Shahzad, Afzaal and M Hafeez grabbed two wickets each. President Golden Start Club Wasif Zaman congratulated the team on their brilliant performance and winning match and hoped that team would continue this winning spree.
