LAHORE - M Shabbir of Islamabad Club clinched the trophy of the All Pakistan Garrison Open Golf Tournament which concluded here at the lush green Lahore Garrison Golf and Country Club (LGG&CC) on Wednesday.
Commander Lahore Corps Lieutenant General Naweed Zaman was the chief guest on the concluding ceremony and awarded prizes to the winners.
M Shabbir of Islamabad Club was declared winner of the tournament with a score of 205. M Munir of Islamabad Club and Shafique Masih of Lahore Gymkhana were second and third with a score card of 207 and 209 respectively. AVM Mujahid Anwar was the lucky winner of hole in one competition. He was awarded a Honda Car.
Speaking on the occasion, the Naweed, who is also the patron-in-chief, announced establishment of the first ever golfing academy in the country at Lahore Garrison Golf and Country Club by February 2015 with the support of Punjab Golf Association (PGA).
In the senior amateurs’ category, the first prize was won by Mian Tariq with 79 gross. The second position went to Lt Col Asif Mehdi of LGG&CC while Abdul Qayyum of Lahore Gymkhana was third. In net category, Abdul Haseeb of LGG&CC was first with 71 net, while Lt Col Ikramul Haq was second and Akhtar Hayat of Lahore Gymkhana was third.
In the amateurs’ category, M Rehman secured the first position with 220 gross while Taimoor Khan was second and Fakhar Imam was third with with 221 and 222 gross respectively. In net competition, Danish Rehman won the first position with 202 net, while Umer Ahsan Dar and Rafe Aslam Raja were second and third with 205 and 210 respectively. In the subsidiary match, Lt Col Waqar Ahmad of LGG&CC got first prize on 36 gross. The second position was won by Lt Col Haider of LGG&CC while third went to Azhar Latif of LGG&CC. In net, Maj Javed of LGG&CC secured the first while Brig Jamil and Capt Anwar Kamal were second and third respectively. In the senior professional category in gross, the first prize was won by M Illyas of Lahore Gymkhana with 72 gross while second and third positions went to M Iqbal of Lahore Gymkhana and Mobeen of Punjab Police with 73 and 74 gross respectively.
