LAHORE – Chess Federation of Pakistan (CFP) is holding its general body meeting today (Wednesday) to elect its new president. According to the CFP secretary Dr Naeem Hamid Mirza, outgoing president Abdus Salim faced serious charges of misconduct, inactivity and misappropriation in the federation’s funds and equipment in the last general body meeting held on May 24. The secretary said despite repeated requests, Salim had been refusing to share the office records, funds and chess equipment to other office bearers which was in his custody during his tenure as secretary from 2004 to 2012. After his removal by the general body, legal measures would be taken against him. The meeting will be attended by representatives of Punjab, Sindh, Balochistan and KP chess associations and departments of Railways, PIA, HEC and Wapda.–Staff Reporter
