BANGALORE (Agencies) - Iran's teenage sensation Hossein Vafaei Ayouri won the IBSF World Snooker Championship for the first time on Saturday beating Wales star Lee Walker 10-9 in the best of 19 frames final. Hossein won 81-30, 5-121, 72-1, 103-8, 76-4, 83-5, 62-59, 74-15, 92-0, 53-75, 73-25, 5-123, 14-80, 46-80, 73-43, 39-79, 52-57 and 58-52. A complete thriller, the contest went down to the wires as Lee came back strongly down 3-7 to level scores 9-9 in the 18th frame and stay in the hunt. At one stage he was down 1-22 and went on to win the frame 57-52 in a close encounter. Lee could have gone to win the title had luck favoured the Wales cueist, who just needed to pocket pink and a black in the decider. He was then leading 52-45, before being terribly poised 0-45 against Hossein in the frame. Hossein capitalised on Lee's miss and potted pink and black to clinch the title. Lee went down like a true 'Gladiator', giving Hossein a run for his money, but the Iranian looked poised to clinch the summit clash at the end of the first session. Hossein had showed time and again throughout the tournament his exquisite snooker qualities - his precision long-range hits and short-range deft touches - as he had pulverised his Indian opponent Kamal Chawla 7-2 in the semifinals yesterday. He displayed his precision yet again, overpowering Lee. Hossein, who took home a cheque of $6400, will now have his sight on future championships.
