District level of PYF

LAHORE - The Punjab Youth Festival (PYF) healthy sports competitions have touched the new heights as it witnessed a huge participation of 9797 athletes on the seventh day of districts level while 1869 among them returned home triumphant.
Lahore’s Iqbal Town outplayed Lahore Cantt. Ashfaq Ali clinched the karate title while Imtiaz Ali earned second. The taekwondo event was won by Amir Khan while Yasir Ali earned the second position. In football quarterfinal event, Cooperative Society defeated Aziz Bhatti Town 1-0 while Iqbal Town outclassed Wahga Town to enter semi-final. In healthy baby competitions held here at the Hamdard Centre Lahore, Meerab won the title while Veena Khan won the second and Hussain Mehmood third position.  In Rawalpindi Division, the participation was little bit thinner as compared to other areas of province. Here 363 athletes of Chakwal, Attock and Jhelum districts appeared in several events and 87 were declared triumphant.
After receiving appreciation from inhabitants of Prisons and Old age Homes, the events of Punjab Youth Festival 2014 were contested in the Fountain House where patients showcased their talent in a number of healthy competitions here on Tuesday.
A large number of patients including children and medical/paramedical staff took part in different sporting events of the festival. The Badminton Singles event involved staff and Naveed Latif emerged as winner followed by Basheer Khan and Nazeer Ahmad. The pair of Naveed and Basheer won the doubles event while Mudassar and Saleem earned the second position and Mansoor Butt and Anwar were third.
In MRI Child Category, athletics event was won by Mubeen while Shehroz was second and Adil third. Muazzam won the 200m race while Irfan and Adnan won the second and third position respectively.
 In 100m Race, Waseem Shahzad was victorious. Zeeshan earned the second position and Gul Ahmad the third.
In 200m Race, Shahzad Ali clinched the first position, Atif stood second and Farrukh was third. In Women Athletics events, Nadia Rehman emerged as the winner while Rubina Ashraf earned the second and Tehseen third position. Tasneem remained successful in 200m Race while Fozia Saeed was second and Rehana Kausar third.
Ghulam M XI downed Shahzad XI in Tug of War event while Table Tennis Singles event title went to Fahad Basharat and second and third to Saleem Aslam and M. Aslam respectively. In table tennis doubles event, the pair of Fahad and Saleem were triumphant while Aslam and Nazeer were second and Naveed and Rehman third.
The badminton doubles women title went to pair of Rubina Ashraf and Tahseen Kausar while Nadia Rehman and Shazia Iqbal won second and Tahseen Zara and Fozia Saeed earned the third position. In men's doubles badminton event, the pair of M Ali Khan and Shakeel Khan clinched the first position while the pair of Abid Ali and Arshad won the second.
In the men's singles event, Shakeel Jamal emerged as winner followed by Hassan and Gul Zaib. In Badminton Singles Event, Naveed Tariq was victorious while Basheer Khan and Nazeer Ahmad won the second and third positions. In tug of war event of staff members, Farhad Ali XI beat Noor Akbar XI. In arm-wrestling event, Shahzad Ali was triumphant while Atif won second and Hassan third.
Divisional Convener Sports MPA Mian Naseer Ahmad was the chief guest at the occasion and distributed prizes among the winners. Speaking on the occasion, he said: "The PYF has not only provided all the citizens the opportunity to take part in healthy activities and now the prisoners and persons living in the fountain houses are taking in it and by that way and the vision of Punjab CM Mian Shahbaz Sharif has been successfully fulfilled."
