PTV book quarters berth in National Hockey

LAHORE - Pakistan Television (PTV) booked its place in the quarterfinals after beating Pakistan Steel Mills in the ongoing 62nd National Hockey Championship at the Hockey Club of Pakistan (HCP) Stadium on Monday.
PIA and Port Qasim Authority (Pool-A), Wapda and PTV (Pool-B), Pakistan Army and Sui Sothern Gas Company (Pool-C) and National Bank of Pakistan (NBP) and Pakistan Navy (Pool-D) have already confirmed their berths in the event. PTV defeated Steel Men 2-1 and NBP beat Pakistan Air Force (PAF) 6-2. Today (Tuesday) is the rest day.
In the opening match of the day, PTV took command of the proceedings in the 11th minute when Adnan netted a beautiful field goal. Steelmen used all their skill and energy to level the score but PTV defenders guarded their fort effectively. However, they succeeded to find a chance and level the score in the 35th minute which they availed through a field goal by M Imran.
PTV’s Karim Khan netted another field goal for his team in the 51st minute. Hamza and Muneer supervised the match.
Amir was instrumental in NBP’s victory against the PAF in their last pool match. He slammed a field goal in the 17th and 29thminutes. Veteran Akhtar Ali scored the first goal in the 2nd minute to give lead to the Bankers. Their captain Toseeq Arshad struck a goal on penalty corner in the 13th minute. Azfar Yaqoob and Arslan Qadir scored one field goal each in the 19th and 21st minutes respectively. From PAF, Mudassir and Mushtaq converted a penalty corner each in the 24th and 41st minutes. Mehmood and Atif Malik were the field umpires.
