Ushna thrash Sarah to lift Ranking Tennis title

ISLAMABAD - Pakistan's lone WTA player Ushna Suhail stamped out her authority in style and showed she is by far the best ladies player in the country, as she outclassed former Pakistan NO 1 female player Sarah Mahboob Khan in marathon three-set final to become the ladies singles champion of the Fauji Fertilizer Open National Ranking Tennis Championship 2015 here at Senator Dilawar Abbas PTF Tennis Complex on Friday.
Ushna was nowhere in the first set as she was completely outclassed by Sarah Mehboob, who took the first set 6-1. After being outplayed in the first set, Ushna bounced back in style and clinched the second set 6-2. It was all Ushna in the third and final set, as Sarah completely lost her rhythm and Ushna was simply in irresistible mood and thrashed Sarah to take the decisive set 6-0, without dropping a single game.
Aqeel and his younger brother Yasir Khan will vie for top honour in the men's singles final at 4pm today (Saturday). after a long as both won their respective semi-finals. In the first semifinal, Aqeel had to dig deep to beat current tennis sensation Abid Ali Akber in three hard-fought sets. Abid won the first set 6-3 by breaking sixth game of Aqeel, who never looked in any sort of bother despite losing the first set and bounced back to win next two sets 6-1 and 6-3 to win the match in 54 minutes.
In the second semifinal, third seed Yasir Khan stunned second seed M Abid in straight sets 6-4, 6-3. Yasir won the first set 6-4 by breaking ninth game of M Abid and took the second set 6-3 by breaking fifth and seventh games of Abid.
In the boys’ U-18 final, Aman Atiq annexed the title after thrshing Saqib Umar in one-sided match 6-0, 6-1. Huzaifa Abdul Rehman won the U-14 title by beating Shoaib Khan in straight sets 6-4, 6-4.
