Honours shared in Delhi-Lahore Golf Cup Series

LAHORE - The Indian golfers contested well and succeeded in sharing honours with the Lahore team in the Delhi-Lahore Golf Cup series held here at the Royal Palm Golf Course.
This is a reciprocal golf contest and while this team is here in the city for competing with the team from Lahore, the next contest will be hosted in New Delhi.
Players of Lahore did have the advantage of home course knowledge but Indian golfers like Manmohan Singh and Madho Misra, Amit Luthra and Maj Gen Sher Gill, Bharat Garg and Rajiv Puri played superbly and accumulated three valuable points for their team.
From the Lahore side, the team pairs that beat their opponents from Delhi are Asad IA Khan and Fareed Bajwa, Abid Farooq and Max Babri and Noori Zaman and Zenun Nisa. The ladies from India who got beaten were Meera Juneja and Indu Seth.
All through the 18 holes competition what stood out was the fact that these friends from across the border were totally awed by the aura of Lahore, the hospitality of the Lahorites and in particular Ramzan Sheikh and they did not for a moment stifle their emotions and expressed their love and gratitude in the most expressive way and requested the host team to prepare for a visit to Delhi, six months from now.
Leader of Delhi team Manmohan has a special love for Lahore as his father was associated with Government College Lahore, and he still recalls the stories his father shared with him about this great institution. Another senior member of the Indian team Jayanay Juneja stated that his family was associated with Gujranwala and he travelled to the city and managed to locate his home right next to the District Courts. He said that his grandfather owned the Rahwali Sugar Mills.
At the end, a grand prize distribution was held in the evening in which the top performers were.
