Independence Cup Boxing from tomorrow

KARACHI The Karachi South Boxing Association (KSBA), in collaboration with National Bank of Pakistan (NBP), will hold a three-day Independence Cup Boxing tournament from Saturday at Ustad Abdullah Baloch Boxing Stadium Mauripur Road, Peoples Football stadium Lyari, Secretary South Asghar Baloch announced here Thursday. Competitions in boys, junior and youth categories will be held during the competitions. The boys event will be held in 28, 30, 32, 34, 36, 38, 40, 42 and 44 kilograms categories. Junior class in 46, 48, 50, 52, 54 and 57 kilograms categories and Youth class in 48, 51, 54, 57, 60 and 64 kgs weight categories. All clubs of Karachi will participate in the tournament. In the meantime, Additional District Officer City District Government Karachi, Mushtaq Ahmed has lauded the efforts of the District South Boxing Association for holding training camps. Speaking at the concluding ceremony of the camp, he said youth should also be motivated toward extracurricular activities. The camp was organised by District South Boxing Association in collaboration with Sindh Sports Board and National Bank of Pakistan. Mushtaq Ahmed, while appreciating the sports activities in Lyari, has said that there was no shortage of educational institutions and sports centers in the old town of Lyari, but there is a need to keep proper maintenance. He said youth must be inspired toward such positive activities. The chief guest distributed certificates and shirts among the youth boxers. Beside president of South Boxing Association Abdullah, general secretary Asghar Baloch expressed their gratitude to Sindh Sports Board and National Bank of Pakistan. The camp was supervised by former international, national coaches and national referees including Murad Bux, Noor Mohammad, Fida Hussain, Babu Rahim, Jameel Baloch, Abdul Sattar, Ali Jan and others.
