Dubai - Superb bowling and batting displays by M Asghar and Tamim Iqbal steered Peshawar Zalmi to 24-run inaugural victory against Islamabad United in the Pakistan Super League (PSL) third match played here at the Dubai Cricket Stadium on late Friday night.
It was brilliant M Asghar who picked three wickets with two sterling catches which compelled match officials declared him man of the match. He was ably assisted by Wahab Riaz (23-3) and Shaun Tait (24-2) as Peshawar Zalmi successfully defended the target of 146. Islamabad United could manage only 121/9 in their 20 overs. Only Shane Watson (28) and SW Billings (26) batted well for Islamabad United as their no other batsman could bat well.
For Peshawar Zalmi, Tamim Iqbal batted convincingly and gathered 51-ball 51 runs hitting three fours and one six. Shahid Yousuf and Shahid Afridi also batted well and contributed 16 runs each in their team’s total. For his superb bowling performance, M Asghar was named as man of the match.
