DUBAI (Agencies)- England pace bowler Steven Finn is hoping he can transfer the skills honed during his recent stint in New Zealand into the upcoming Test series against Pakistan.
The Middlesex bowler arrives in the United Arab Emirates fresh from a one-month spell with Otago Volts and he will now be hoping to force his way back into the England starting XI in the UAE.
Despite impressing in recent one-day internationals, Finn still remains down the Test pecking order and has only played once in the longest format for England in the last 12 months.
The 22-year-old has once again been named in the touring party for the upcoming series against Pakistan, though, and is clearly a part of the national selectors' long-term plans.
And, if given the opportunity in the Middle East, he is hoping to bring the skills he recently picked up in New Zealand, as well as the ones he showed during England's winless one-day series in India, against Pakistan.
Conditions in New Zealand could hardly be described as akin to those in Asia but Finn, speaking before the second net practice of England's eight-week tour of Dubai and Abu Dhabi, reports there were more similarities than might be expected.
"The wickets were quite slow and low, so it was good to go and get some practice on those sorts of wickets," he said.
