Malala attends Third Test

LAHORE - International-famed Pakistani human rights advocate for women and education Malala Yousafzai Saturday attended the third Test at Edgbaston between Pakistan and England.

Malala, who is youngest ever Nobel Prize laureate, was invited as a guest of honour and was formally received by Pakistan Cricket Board (PCB) chairman Shahryar Khan, Chairman of Warwickshire Norman Gascoigne and Pakistan High Commissioner to UK Syed Ibne Abbas. In response, she gave a speech emphasising her delight to be at Edgbaston.

Shaharyar said: “It is a pleasure to see Malala here today. She gives a morale boost to the Pakistan players at a crucial time of this Test match. I know that she is keen to watch cricket and enjoy the fine play we have seen so far in this match."

After the day’s play, she was very much looking forward to meeting the Pakistani players. She is enthusiastic in her passion for cricket and delighted to attend the Test at Edgbaston. She said that she hoping for a Pakistan victory in this match but wishes good luck to both sides.

Malala has local connections in Birmingham. She has been a pupil at the all-girls' Edgbaston High School in Birmingham and has received intensive treatment at Queen Elizabeth Hospital Birmingham after the assassination attack on her.
