Hamza reiterates pledge of reviving sports culture in Punjab




LAHORE - Sports Board Punjab (SBP) chairman Mian Hamza Shahbaz Sharif has reiterated his pledge of reviving sports culture in the province by providing proper sporting facilities at every available ground for people of all walks of life.
Talking to the journalists here at the Punjab Squash Complex, Hamza said that he felt his duty to make the grounds available for the public for sporting activities.
“We got vacated more the 4000 grounds in the province from occupants and now its’ my pledge to provide the public with proper sports and exercise equipment at these grounds so that people of all walks of life return to the grounds for sports as it used to be the practice,” he said.
“We organised one of the biggest Punjab Sports Festival earlier this year which had a mass participation and have now planned even a bigger event which will start later next month involving youth of the province. The Punjab Youth Festival 2012 would surely set new precedent which would give the youth a line and direction to fulfil their dreams,” he added.
“The preparations for holding the event are underway and we will make this a big success,” he said. “Punjab government will make the province a hub of sports in the country,” he added.
Hamza also asked the Punjab Squash Association (PSA) to organise a squash competition with having Rs 50,000 cash award and also promised to put before the chief minister the association’s request of Rs 20 million grant.
