ISLAMABAD -  Top seeds Aqeel Khan, Yasir Khan, Ahmed Ch, Shaheen Mahmood, Asad Mehmood Khan, Shahzad Khan, Jehanzeb Khan and second seed M Abid moved into the pre-quarterfinals of men's singles in the 2nd Benazir Bhutto (Shaheed) International Tennis Tournament held here at Islamabad Tennis Complex on Wednesday.

Top seed Aqeel Khan had to face resistance from Ahmed Babar of Lahore. Aqeel won the first set at 6-4 by breaking 7th game of Ahmed Babar. Aqeel won the second set at 6-3 by breaking 5th game of Ahmed Babar. All the other players won their matches in a straight set.

In the ladies event, Sara Mansoor, Mahin Aftab, Arooba Shahab, Ushna Suhail, Esha Jawad, Sarah Mahboob moved to the quarterfinal by beating their respective opponents in straight sets.

In the other matches of the men's singles first round, M Abid beat Hamid-ul-Haq 6-2 6-2; Yasir Khan beat Abbas Khan 6-1 6-2; Shaheed Mahmood beat Jibran-ul-Haq 6-2; 6-0; Ahmed Ch beat Sahibzada M Ali 6-1 6-1; Asad M Khan beat Fahad M Khan 7-5 6-2; Shahzad Khan beat Shahzad PAF 6-2 6-3; Jehanzab Khan beat Major Ahsan 6-0 6-0. In the men's doubles first round matches, Ejaz Khan and Abbas Khan beat Aman Attique and Ahmed Babar 6-4 7-6(5).

In the ladies first round matches, Hania Navaid beat Mahin Khan 6-2 6-0; Shimza Tahir w/o Khidija Leghari while in the ladies pre-quarterfinal, Mahin Aftab beat Shiza Sajid 6-0 6-0; Ushna Suhail beat Azeena Aleem 6-0 6-0; Sarah Mahboob Khan beat Rosabel Ujala 6-0 6-0; Esha Jawad beat Nida Akram 6-0 6-2; Sara Mansoor beat Bakhtawar Haider 6-0, 6-0; Arooba Shahab beat Apsara Sherez 6-2, 6-3. In junior U-18 first round matches, Hafiz Arbab Ali beat Ilham Khan 7-6(6), 6-4; Saad Asjad beat Syed M Ahmed 6-0, 6-0; Semi Zeb beat Azan Khan 6-0, 6-0; Subhan Bin Salik w/o Abdul Hanan.

In boy's U-14 first round matches, Hamza Roman beat M Hassan Kha 4-0, 4-0; Faiz-ur-Rehman Shah w/o Abdul Hanan; Abdul Wahab Anwar w/o Sheel Tahir; Ahsan Khan beat Ibrahim Bin Sohail 4-5, 4-2, 4-1. In the boy's U-14 pre-quarterfinal, Subhan Bin Salik beat Faiz-ur-Rehman 4-0, 4-0; Ahmed Kamil beat Syed M Ahmed 4-0, 4-0; Hamid Israr beat Azan Raja 4-1, 4-0; Hamza Bin Rehman beat Zalan Khan 4-2, 4-0.
