Aizaz bowls PIA to final

KARACHI - Aizaz bin Ilyas bowled PIA to an innings and 18 runs victory against Karachi Blues on the penultimate day of the four-day Grade-1 Quaid-e-Azam Tournament semi-final played here at the National Stadium on Saturday. PIA booked their place in the final as pacer Aizaz bin Ilyas destroyed Karachi Whites with fourteen wickets in the match. PIA will take on Habib Bank in the final. Aizaz who earlier had humbled Karachi Blues in their first innings for 146, taking seven wickets for 65 runs and repeated the feat in home team's second innings that was folded at 100 runs. He took seven wickets for 45 in their second outing. The performance of Aizaz bin Ilyas was a unique one that would add a new chapter to cricket books. He conceded 110 runs for his record-making wicket haul. Earlier in their first innings, PIA had responded with 262 while replying Karachi's first innings total of 146 all out. Trailing by 116 runs on first innings score, Karachi Blues was tamely surrendered in their second innings also and managed 100 runs. Only five batsmen could reach the double figures. Four Karachi batsmen could not score. Murtaza Majeed top scored with 25 and Akbar-ur-Rehman added 23. Karachi Blues resumed their second innings at 49 for three were bundled out for 100 runs in next 39 overs. Their remaining seven batsmen got out for just 57 runs just before lunch on the third day.
