ISLAMABAD - Pakistan Olympic Association (POA) president Gen (retd) Arif Hasan, who was suspended by Pakistan Sports Board (PSB), met with IPC Minister Mir Hazar Khan Bijrani and IPC Secretary Fareed Ullah Khan, sources confirmed to this scribe on Wednesday.
The sources claimed that Gen Arif was ready to settle the ongoing POA-PSB dispute on give and take basis, but the minister and secretary not ready to resolve issue conditionally.
The sources said that Gen Arif along with his close aides Pakistan Volleyball Federation president Ch M Yaqoob, Pakistan Baseball Federation chief Shaukat Javed and others had secret meeting with secretary IPC and informed high command about his suggestion, but the secretary refused to accept any such offer and made it clear that Supreme Court verdict regarding third term would be implemented in true letter and spirit and IPC had already directed Pakistan Sports Board to act on the given directives to implement the apex court orders.
The sources confirmed that all the federations who fail to abide by the Supreme Court orders would no longer be invited for the meetings and no official communication would be made with them and those bodies would be allowed to attend PSB meetings those implement the SC orders.
The sources said that Fareed Ullah Khan had invited Gen Arif and his close aides to attend the meeting to end the crises amicably but Gen Arif had tabled some conditions before the IPC secretary to attend the meeting which the secretary refused to accept, the sources concluded.
