ISLAMABAD - Pakistan's M Asif went down fighting against Japanese Mikito Nakano in the final of the 4th Taipei City Cup International Boxing Tournament as he lost the nail-biting final of the flyweight 52kg 29-28 at Taipei Gymnasium. While talking to The Nation form Taiwan on Sunday, PBF secretary M Akram Khan said Asif fought gallantly and displayed wonderful skills against much superior opponent Nakano. I had expected Asif to exhibit skills in same fashion although Asif lost the final by just 1 point. Asif went through excessive 4-month training in Karachi, which helped him a in showing such exceptional result and this silver medal will go a long way in helping Asif becoming a more lethal boxer and win laurels for the country at international stage, Akram concluded.–Staff Reporter
