ISLAMABAD
Nasir Iqbal, Sh Saqib and Farhan Zaman registered triumphs on the second day of the trials to select two players to represent Pakistan in the Asian Senior Individual Squash Championship to be held in Kuwait in May. Nasir won both his matches against Tayyab and Danish, while Sh Saqib shocked Tayyab Aslam in straight games on Tuesday.
The PSF must pay attention towards pathetic refereeing in such high-profile trial matches, as it was future of youngsters on stake. Such poor refereeing not only hurt genuine players, but also sent negative signal about the federation, as it was very hard to witness Nasir and Danish crunch match. The federation should have appointed a senior referee to conduct the match.
Danish lost the first game 6-11, but bounced back in style to win the second 11-9, third 15-13, but due to consistent poor refereeing, he lost the fourth 2-11 and fifth 7-11. Nasir also beat Tayyab Aslam same day 3-0, 12-10, 11-6, 11-5, Farhan Zaman beat Sh Saqib 3-0, 11-8, 11-6, 11-8, while Tayyab was stunned by Saqib 11-2, 14-12, 11-7.
