Pakistan Super League scheduled for February 2016: PCB

The much-anticipated inaugural edition of the Pakistan Super League is expected to be held in February 2016 in UAE. The decision was announced by Pakistan Cricket Board after a meeting of the board of governors.

The franchise-based league has been delayed twice before during the tenure of Najam Sethi and Zaka Ashraf, but current chairman PCB, Sheharyar Khan, insists that the board is keen to host the league next year and has made it one of their top priorities.

The venue was decided after considering several factors that could influence the involvement of foreign players such as security issues. The board wishes to see maximum foreign participation, therefore, a neutral venue was the only option available.

The board has also acquired the services of the leading sports research firm, Repucom. Repucom has been involved with every sport ranging from Tennis to Golf. Repucom has advised the board to go ahead with a five-team plan. The league will be held after the tour of New Zealand and before the T20 World Cup begins in India.

If project goes ahead according to plan, the five teams will go head to head on a double-league basis that will followed by a final between the leading sides.
