I’m lucky to be selected in team at this age: Ayub




LAHORE -M Ayub Dogar’s international selection has been a long time coming at the age of 32 and his inclusion in the Pakistan Test team has arrived after over a decade of domestic cricket.
The right-handed middle order batsman hails from Sialkot and represent Sialkot Stallions in the domestic cricket has played 93 first-class matches and scored more than 4000 runs in the last four years with an average of 44 that compelled selectors to call him in the camp and after monitoring his fitness, batting technique and form named him in Test team..
Ayub Dogar who was happy over his selection in the national squad said on Sunday that he is at his peak and feels was lucky enough he was selected in the team at this age. “In cricket there are some things you learn only through experience which comes with the passage of time,” a webside quoted Dogar as saying.
Earlier former interim coach Mohsin Khan has called him in the camp prior to Sri Lanka and England series as was impressed with his batting abilities and technique but he was later not considered for selection. 
Dogar pointed out that Pakistan’s one-day and Test team skipper Misbah-ul-Haq and former captain Younus Khan have proven through their performances that age is not a barrier. “There are numerous other examples like M Hafeez, Tendulkar, Sangakkara, Mahela Jayawardene and lots of players who are performing very well with consistency,” he maintained.
He further said he was thankful to the Pakistan Cricket Board for giving him a chance for representing country and he will not let them down and proves his mettle during the Sri Lanka tour. Pakistan team’s head coach Dav Whatmore and fielding coach Julien Fountain have introduced a fresh approach in the selection of Pakistan team and included those players who were performing well consistently in the domestic cricket and their selection will boost cricket in the country, he concluded.
