Army on top in Sindh Taekwondo
ISLAMABAD - Army maintained their supremacy on the fourth day of the First 1st Rangers Sindh National Taekwondo Championship at Rangers Training Center and School, Karachi Monday. Pakistan Taekwondo Federation (PTWF) president Lt Col Waseem Ahmed Janjua said: “Two more events of male/female category were conducted, in which Army enjoyed comfortable lead over their rivals, as they clinched 23 gold, two silver and two bronze medals for first position. Najia Rasool and Faisal Imran both from Amry won heavy weight and flyweight gold medals. HEC secured second position with three gold, five silver and five bronze medals with total 206 points, KPK was third with five silver and seven bronze with 154 points, Sindh were on fourth with five silver and four bronze with 138 points.–Staff Reporter
Model Town Whites CA U-15 Cricket
LAHORE - The Educators Samanabad has defeated BSS Model Town by 33 runs to win the Model Town Whites Cricket Academy (CA) U-15 Cricket Championship 2014. Batting first, The Educators scored 139-6 in 20 overs. Namra Imran batted very well and scored 42 runs while Burhan added 35 runs. In reply, BSS Model Town School were all out for 106-8 in 20 overs. Asad was the only player who batted well and contributed 40 runs but all his efforts went in vain as he could not save his team from facing defeat. Abdullah ripped through BSS Model Town batting by grabbing three wickets for 15 runs with a hat-trick. Sajid Doger also bowled well and took 3-20 and Namra 2-25. Wapda win National Taekwondo title
LAHORE - Wapda won the National Taekwondo Championship concluded here at the Wapda Sports Complex Monday. Wapda players got first position by grabbing 12 gold, three sliver and eight bronze medals with 254 points, Railways earned second with seven gold, eight silver and nine bronze medals, Punjab-A third with five silver and nine bronze medals with 113 points, Sindh fourth with 86 points with one gold, four sliver and five bronze medals and Islamabad fifth position with 81 points. Awais Butt of Wapda was named best player of the event. Chief guests Rauf Hameed and Zainb Ahmad along with PTWF secretary Shakeel Yousaf gave away medals and trophies to the winners. Pakistan finish second in SAJ C’ship
ISLAMABAD - Pakistan judo team finished second in the South Asian Judo (SAJ) Championship held in Nepal, winning three golds, three silvers and six bronze medals. Pakistan Judo Federation (PJF) secretary Masood Ahmed said that Shah Hussain Shah, Ahmed Shahzad and Humaira Ashiq won the -100kg, +100kg and -48kg gold medals respectively while Afzal Bashir, Maryum Jabbar and Beenish Khan won -90kg, -52kg and -78kg silver medals respectively and Yasir Khan (-66kg), Javed Khan (-73kg), Karamat Butt (-81), Shumaila Gul (-57kg), Ambreen Ashiq (-63kg) and Fouzia (-70kg) won bronze medals. India won first position, Pakistan second, hosts Nepal third, Afghanistan fourth and Sri Lanka fifth position. In team event, Pakistan played male semifinals against Afghanistan, while Pakistani girls also faced India in semifinals.–Staff Reporter
