Pakistan beat Canada 2-0 in WSF play-offs

ISLAMABAD - Pakistan beat Canada 2-0 in the play- offs match for 9th to 16th position match to ensure at least 12th place in the WSF World Men’s Team Squash Championship, 2013, in France on Friday and will now play for 9th and 10th play offs match today.
After losing most of his matches, Nasir Iqbal finally gave himself and country something to cheer about as he beat Shawn Delerre 3-2 after a tough and intense battle. Nasir won the first game 11/6 and looked all set to regain his lost form but lost his touch in the second game and lost the game 7/11.
He bounced back to win the third game 11/6, but once again let his opponent off the hook as he lost the fourth game 3/11.
It was like an eye opener for Nasir and especially for head coach Jamshed Gul, who gave Nasir a timely reminder and it worked wonders for the kid as he looked completely different prospect altogether in the fifth game and won the game 11/3 to give Pakistan 1-0 lead.
Farhan Zaman was picked ahead of Farhan Mahboob to play the second match against Andrew Schnell. It was also a very tight affair as Farhan won the battle 3-2, Farhan lost the first game 8/11, but managed to win the second game 11/6, before once gain losing the third game 3/11. It was a crunch moment in the game as Farhan had to win next two games to win the tie.
Once again coach gave a sticking to Farhan, which produced wonders for the young lad, who went on to win the fourth game 11/5 and then completely outclassed his opponent in the fifth 11/3 to give Pakistan victory. Pakistan will play the last match of the championship today for 9th 10th position.
