Amir to get a ticket to international cricket

ISLAMABAD: Pakistan Cricket Board will be placing a special check on pacer Muhammad Amir’s performance in the forthcoming National Twenty-20 Cup to be held at the Rawalpindi Cricket Stadium. The tournament will be played from September 1 to 15.

The Qualifying round will be held from September 1 to 5, while the National T20 tournament will commence from September 8.

A Rawalpindi Region official said Amir, who was banned from International Cricket for a period of 5 years, is all set to make his comeback into International Cricket very soon as his ban ends in September this year.

He feels that the national team already lacks pace bowlers and with the inclusion of Amir in the squad the bowling department will improve.

“The PCB is keeping an eye on his performance and he is expected to get a ticket to international cricket very soon,” he said. “We have high hopes from the pacer and believe he will surely get a chance in the national squad before the end of this year,” he said.

He stated that as many as sixteen teams would take part in the event.

“The selectors will also be noting the performance of several other young and senior players from the tournament,” he said.
