GCC Summer Camp concludes, resumes after Eid

LAHORE – The Gymkhana Club Cricket (GCC) Summer Camp 2012 concluded here at the Gymkhana cricket ground Bagh-e-Jinnah on Sunday.
Former cricket legends and Test stars attended the ceremony while a large number of children’s parents and members of Gymkhana club were also present.
Convener Cricket Nadeem Hassan Asif, who is also Principal Secretary to Chief Minister Punjab Mian Shahbaz Sharif, was chief organiser of the event. Dy Speaker Punjab Assembly Rana Mashood was named as chief guest but due to his absence Lahore Gymkhana Chairman Ziaur Rehman acted as a chief guest.
Pakistan legends Javed Miandad, Inzamam-ul-Haq, Javed Zaman, Adnan Akmal, LRCA chief Kh Nadeem, Imran Bucha and other dignitaries were also present.
At the concluding ceremony, the chief guest along with Javed Miandad and Inzamam distributed kits and shields among the camp participants.
Javed Miandad said: “Lahore Gymkhana cricket ground, I think, one of the best and most beautiful grounds of the world having good environment. It has honour of hosting international matches in which world’s best cricketers participated and they all lauded and appreciated this ground.”
Miandad said: “This was a golden chance for youngsters as PCB’s highly qualified coaches trained them and improved their game and skills. They have learnt a lot but the need of the hour is to continue their practice and hard work to remain in contention. If a player regularly comes to the ground and plays consistently, he becomes the star cricketer so obeying their parents and coaches, these children can become future of Pakistan,” he added.
Pakistan Cricket Board (PCB) qualified coaches imparted training to nearly 150 children of various age categories. The camp was winded up due to Ramazan and will be resumed after Eid.
