Jr Squash to carry biggest prize in Pakistan history

KARACHI The fourth edition of the DG Rangers Sindh National Junior Squash which will be played here June 28 to July 3 will carry Rs. one million in prize money which is the biggest purse ever offered in a national event in the history of Pakistan squash. The DG rangers Sindh National Junior Squash will be played at the sponsors own Sindh Rangers Jahangir Khan Squash Complex in North Nazimabad. The previous highest prize purse was Rs. half a million which was offered in the Chief of Air staff Championship held three years ago in Peshawar. The Sindh Squash Association will be providing technical assistance to the organisers of the DG Rangers event in which junior players from across the country are expected to appear in large numbers. In the recent past, the Sindh Squash Association succeeded in attracting a number of sponsors to hold national junior squash events in the province. The SSA, with the support of a sponsor, hosted a national junior event at Rashidabad located an hours drive from Hyderabad. Very recently, it organised Tughral Shah event in the memory of Mr Shah whose family financed the event played here at Pakistan Navy Roshan Khan Jahangir Khan complex. The DG Rangers Sindh National Ranking Junior Championships will be held five age categories in boys event and in two age categories in girls event. In the boys age categories are Under 11,13,15,17 and 19. Girls age categories are under 15 and under 19. The draw in each of the event will be of sixteen both in the qualifying and the main round. The championship will be played on eleven points system. Last date of entry is June 21. Accommodation to outstation players will be provided in both qualifying and main rounds.
