LAHORE - Pakistan former cricket legend, Zaheer Abbas expressed happiness at the resumption of ties, saying that it will be good for the Pakistan-India relationship.
"The best remedy is to play. At least the country will be busy watching cricket. It will be good for cricket and Pakistan-India relationship. Both the countries should be playing cricket every year. It is a very good sign," said Abbas.
"People in Pakistan are very happy. India are becoming a great power in cricket. Playing with India we can improve our cricket also," he said.
Zaheer Abbas said Pakistan-India bilateral series is the dire need of both the countries and even the world.
"Pak-India series is the dire need of the hour as it has been ages since the two have met each-other in a series except in the World Cup semi- final match and the Asia Cup," he said.
Zaheer further said the cricket lovers all around the world want to see Pak-India meet in the field.
"I believe that the series would provide a great breakthrough in making relations better for both Pakistan and India that were messed up after the 2008 Mumbai attacks. An India team was due to tour Pakistan in early 2009 also but the visit was cancelled".
Former pacer Sarfraz Nawaz said the Pakistan-India series would boost the passion in the players who are dying to meet each other on the field.
"This series is bigger than any other series in the World of cricket even the Ashes," he said adding that the Pak-India series should happen now.
Pakistan former captain Javed Miandad while commenting on the series expresses his happiness and termed the BCCI decision as a good omen for cricket in the subcontinent. The decision will prove beneficial to boost cricket in the subcontinent.
