Pakistan hockey stars shine in BHL

PESHAWAR - Around 25 Pakistani hockey stars appeared for different teams in this year's Bangladesh Hockey League (BHL) 2016 and excelled for their respective teams. The winners Mariner Young included three Pakistanis including double Olympian Waqas Sharif, who also top scored for his side with 17 goals. Runner-up Usha had as many as five Pakistanis in their ranks including the current Pakistan captain M Irfan Senior and two former Pakistan captains Shakeel Abbasi and Shafqat Rasool. Pakistani contingent included past and present stars, junior internationals as well as upcoming players. Apart from Pakistan, players from Germany, India and Malaysia were also part with different clubs in the league. The BHL is a highly competitive event which is keenly followed and attended by the supporters of the clubs.
