Ehsan Mani turns down PCB’s advisory role

LAHORE - Former International Cricket Council (ICC) president Ehsan Mani has denied the role of Pakistan Cricket Board (PCB) advisor.
The reliable sources told this scribe that the PCB had offered the former ICC president to accept the role of board’s advisor which later he refused showing some serious concerns. “Due to the presence of a few officials in the board, I am not ready to work the PCB at any capacity or role,” they said.
It is pertinent to mention here that PCB chairman Shaharyar M Khan personally extended him offer to take charge of the board’s advisor but he first asked some time to ponder over this offer and later, he showed some reservations over the presence of a few PCB officials and refused to work with the PCB at any capacity till they are the part of the board. “Mani further said that unless there are some powerful and influenced persons working in the PCB, he is unable to perform his duty in any capacity as those miscreants won’t let him perform his tasks in a free and fair manner,” the sources added.
The sources stated that Shaharyar Khan was enormously interested in utilizing the vast experience of Mani to improve and strengthen Pakistan cricket nationally and internationally and wanted to give him permanent role for this significant role but he himself had been facing tough times and resistance in this regard from those powerful and influential PCB officials. “The need of the hour is that Prime Minister Mian Nawaz Sharif, who is also patron of the PCB, should intervene and order the PCB chairman to first remove the reservations of Mani by showing door to a few incompetent and powerful PCB officials so that Mani may join the PCB and help Pakistan cricket flourish further,” the sources concluded.
