Marquez wins Australian GP 125cc

PHILLIP ISLAND (Australia) (AFP) Spanish teenager Marc Marquez extended his world championship lead after dominating throughout to win the Australian 125cc Grand Prix on Sunday. Marquez was untouchable as he cruised home on his Derbi ahead of Pol Espargaro, also on a Derbi, and Nicolas Terol on an Aprilia. Marquez stretched his championship lead to 12 points with two races left after leading off pole to beat compatriot Espargaro by 6.062secs. It was the 17-year-olds ninth win of the season, equalling the most wins in a single campaign in the 125cc class by a Spanish rider, held by Jorge Martinez since 1988.
