LAHORE – The award ceremony of the 20th Annual Kung-fu championship was held at Sodiwal here the other night.Al-Qaim Karate Club, Haidery Karate Centre, Bismillah Kung-fu Club and International Kung-fu Art were appeared in the contest held under the aegis of International kung-fu Art.Grand Master Sir Khaleel has sought Punjab chief minister help for the provision of a piece of land for International Kung-fu Art club for the practice purpose of the players. Though Punjab youth festival is a great initiative to hunt talent but government help also vital for local level clubs to boost the art to produce more champions.Blood fights for belt tests were also held and witnessed by a large number of fans. Tariq, Ali Abbas, Sagheer, Umair, M Shahid and Manzoor contested the fights. Several black belts of martial arts including Ali Abbas, Sunny Shah, Irfan and Tariq were also performed in ‘kata’ and ‘gymnastic’ techniques during the championship. Instructors from Hong Kong and Malaysian clubs also performed kung-fu art in the event.
