Thanks to Almighty, with the prayers of my parents and well-wishers, I had been able to carve out sensational victory for my country.”
When asked whether he would partner Aisam in the doubles or Abid Ali would play as per early schedule, Aqeel said: “Let see, as we will sit together and devise plan. If Hameed wants me to play, I will be more than ready to do so and I am very grateful to Hameed, Aisam and my teammates for their overwhelming support. I request the entire nation to pray for our success,” Aqeel concluded.
In the second semifinal played between Samir Iftikhar and Jimmy Wang, Samir was given a tennis lesson by Jimmy, who faced some resistance in the first set before winning the set 6-3. Jimmy was in awesome form in the second set and won it 6-2 and was unplayable in the third set, as he won the third set without dropping a single game 6-0. The match lasted for 1 hour and 35 minutes.
