LAHORE - Pakistan Football Federation (PFF) has formed the organising committee for the smooth holding of the 3rd SAFF Women Football Championship 2014 to be held at the Punjab Football Stadium from November 1-15, 2014.
MNA Mrs Shaista Pervaiz Malik has been appointed as the chairperson of
the organising committee while PFF Women Committee chairperson Senator Mrs Rubina Irfan is vice chairperson and members include PFF secretary Lt Col (r) Ahmed Yar Khan Lodhi, MNA Shaza Fatima Khawaja, PFF Director Development and Competitions Wing Commander (r) Pervaiz Saeed Mir, PFF Director MA’ and Projects Lt Col (r) Farasat Ali Shah, Consultant Marketing and Events Sardar Naveed Haider Khan and Miss Uzma Zaidi. PFF Women Administrator Miss Qibtia Jamshaid is committee secretary.
PFF president Makhdoom Syed Faisal Saleh Hayat congratulated the newly-formed organising committee and said that it was a matter of great pride and honour for Pakistan to host such a prestigious first ever International Women Sporting event. He requested the Pakistan and Punjab government for their complete support and assistance for the event.
Chairperson Mrs Shaista Pervaiz Malik thanked the PFF for her appointment and said that she was honored to lead the team and that she would put her earnest efforts to make this event a great success because this will portray the positive image of the country to the world. She plans to meet the Prime Minister Mian M Nawaz Shairf and Punjab Chief Minister Mian M Shahbaz Shairf to seek their complete support and backing.
PFF secretary Col (r) Lodhi congratulated the chairperson of the committee and assured her of complete support and assistance. Vice chairperson of the committee Rubina Irfan gave the insight on the development and progress of Pakistan football team and their preparations towards the forthcoming championship. She was very confident that young Pakistani players would give tough time to other teams and try to win a medal.
The PFF chief informed the organising committee that PFF had chalked out a very extensive training programme for our national women football team and that foreign tours to Bahrain, Qatar and Thailand will be undertaken to provide international exposure and confidence to Pakistani players. At the end of the meeting, the official secretariat of SAFF championship 2014 was inaugurated.
