Iman clinches Memorial Tennis ladies title

ISLAMABAD - Iman Qureshi clinched the 4th Syed Tajammul Abbas Memorial National Ranking Tennis Tournament ladies title here at Senator Dilawar Abbas PTF Tennis Complex Sunday.
Iman outclassed Rida Khalid in straight sets 6-2, 6-2. Iman displayed quality tennis and never allowed her opponent to settle down. She won the first easily by 6-2 while in the second set, she also played exceptionally and won it with the same margin 6-2. For the third position match Alina Aftab beat younger sister Mahin Aftab in a well-contested two set match 7-6(4), 7-6(1).
Aqeel Khan and Shahzad Khan annexed the men’s doubles title after beating second seeds M Abid and Usman Rafiq in a well-contested three-set match.
In the first semifinal of men's singles Aqeel Khan beat Heera Ashiq in a well-contested two set match 6-4, 6-4. Aqeel broke one game in each set of Heera Ashiq. In the second semifinal, third seed Shahzad Khan eliminated Ahmed Chaudhry 6-4, 6-4. Aqeel will face third seed Shahzad in the men's singles final today (Monday) at 2pm.
In the boy's U-18 singles semifinal, eight seed Talha Zubair made another upset by beating third seed M Muzammil 6-1, 6-1. Talha Zubair played excellent game from the baseline and kept Muzammil on run through the match. In the other semifinal, Arham Atique defeated Husnain Manzoor 6-4, 6-1. The final of the boy's U-18 between Talha and Arham will be played at 10am. In the boy's U-14 singles semifinal, Mir Shahzaib made a big upset by beating top seed Ilham Khan in straight sets 6-1, 6-3 by playing powerful game. In the second semifinal, fifth seed Saqib Umer stunned second seed Yousaf Khan 6-3, 6-0.
Senator Wasim Sajjad will grace the occasion as chief guest today (Monday) at men's singles final and will give away the prizes to winners and runner-ups.
