Samir lifts $15,000 El Paso title
 
 
 

ISLAMABAD  - Pakistan Davis Cupper Samir Iftikhar won his maiden $15,000 El Paso title, played at Elpaso Tennis Club, Texsas USA. Ex-Davis Cupper Tayyab Iftikhar, father of Samir, said: “Samir displayed versatile tennis and superb display fitness to upset the second seed Christopher Letcher of Australia in three hard-fought sets to win the title.” Samir, seeded fourth in the event, braved through 32 men's tough draw and on its way to finals, he upset world No 602 Hans Hach of Mexico in a nail-biting epic semifinal. Samir despite losing the first set on tiebreaker came back strongly to win the next two 6-3, 6-3 to become champion.”
